For a mere R2 100 000 starting price per share block, your investment will include – R1 050 000 for 5% shares in the farm and a budget of R1 050 000 for your unfurnished eco-lodge of between 250 - 350m2. Lodge prices might differ depending on the size of the house and extra building requirements as per the proposed plans.

Grootfontein is an off the grid and carbon-sensitive eco-establishment which means your hot showers will be powered by paraffin heating, fridges are powered by gas and solar and lights are solar-powered. Cell phone signals are mostly non-existent (ain't that great!), but there is a Wi-fi Hotspot on request which will accommodate business travellers who need to stay in touch with the office and their clients.

Here you will find tranquillity and a pristine, untouched Bushveld landscape that is home to 130+ species of birds, 120+ species of trees and an impressive range of animals such as kudu, zebra, giraffe, impala, waterbuck, blue wildebeest, nyala, bushbuck, warthog, various small carnivores, reptiles and leopard.


This is a 4th generation family farm since 1939, owned by the Grobler family. Piet and Pattie Grobler bought the farm Hanover in 1939 and lived off the land during the extended school holidays. At the time that Jan Grobler Senior and Marita took over in the 1970's, they added citrus and cattle farming and moved the base to the adjacent Grootfontein farm. Jan and Perri Grobler changed to eco-tourism in the early 2000's and are your hands-on hosts. Josh and Sam Grobler are getting involved in lodge and farm management and hope to continue sharing their slice of heaven with shareholders


One hour's drive from the famous Sun City, Pilansberg and Marakele National Parks where you can see the Big 5. Thabazimbi has a scenic golf course and the Marakele Animal Sanctuary is well worth a visit.


Thabazimbi has a wide selection of supermarkets, garages, restaurants and medical facilities.


Hiking trails cater for both the casual and enthusiastic hiker. The 5.5km circular Kudu route that hugs the mountain provides a good workout.

For the more energetic, the mountainous 7 - 14 km Black Eagle route offers panoramic views towards Botswana and the Waterberg. Expect sightings of kudu, mountain reedbuck, zebra, klipspringer, resident black eagles, and much more.


Experience Brown river rafting on the picturesque Crocodile River. Enjoy a vigorous work-out or drift down the sluggish current and be surprised by the wide variety of bird-, fish- and wild life en route.


This is a birder’s paradise with130+ species of feathered friends. Enjoy the varied bushveld biomes of riverine forest (fish eagle, night heron, pied king fisher), savanna (quinea fowl, grey loerie, Piet-my-vrou) and mountain (black eagle, arrow marked babbler, Cape Vulture).


4x4: Kudu Route (Grade 3 and unlikely to damage your vehicle). Two or more vehicles only. Expect a round-trip of 3 hours and why not picnic at the top! Experience the abundant wildlife, birds and endless views of cliffs, valleys and prime Bushveld. With a braai-area at the top this is also an ideal spot for sundowners.

Self-Drive (SUV only). Take the family or friends and travel the many interconnecting farm roads. Expect sightings of plains game, abundant birdlife and unspoilt scenic plains, mountains and viewpoints. Do not use the roads marked "Private".
